Greater Fate Eater Preview

George Loki Willaims’ Primordial Fate Eater – Artist: Vincent Coviello

“Wait, I need to let that thing bite me? On purpose? And then I guide the venom with my mind? How do I do that again? Wait… Are you sure this is the only way?”

-Suthul, a Chrysalis Covenant member about to enter his first metamorphosis, possibly willingly.

City of Seven Seraphs Theme: Reprise

As with Duality, Inspiration or Knowledge, the City of Seven Seraphs‘ internal story is also driven by the theme of Reprise. Ancient acts have echoes throughout the current events of the City. Enemies when defeated return wiser for the conflict. Past alliances get called in. Repetition allows villain groups and campaign sites retain meaning long after their introductions. Kytons migrated into the Shadow Plane as part of their lore, so they surface in the City’s story.  The founders of the City’s Parities come into conflict and that conflict recurs with the one time Parity of the Lightbringers becoming one the biggest threats. Deepened meaning creates verisimilitude and immersion resulting in more satisfying game play.

The Reprise Theme in Your Game

Similarly to repeated story elements, the design team is utilizing the OGL content of Pathfinder and partnerships with other Third-Party companies to pickup, reprise and expand design elements that echo other quality work already in the extended game environment. Optional Rules systems from Paizo’s excellent work in Ultimate Combat, Ultimate Intrigue, or the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Occult Adventures sourcebook see reprises into the City’s mechanics when appropriate. No one system or extra book will be required to use the City of Seven Seraphs other than the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook, but players who own books like Akashic Mysteries (from Dreamscarred Press) or the Advanced Race Compendium form (Kobold Press) will added value to those products as well as experience a more seamless reflection into the City.

Today’s art preview is a look at team member George Loki Williams reprise of his very first monster for Pathfinder (Original creature appeared in Dark Roads and Golden Hells by Kobold Press) Hear his excitement in a video from him here.
