With the initial successes of the Crisis of the World Eater Kickstarter (Already Over 200% Funded) we thought we’d take a look at the inspirations behind the mega-3pp Crossover-Adventure and its rather Fantastic Roots… Who better to fight off the coming of a world devouring cosmic monster than characters inspired by the originals… Presenting the Four Fantasical: Suhzi of the Storm!

The Four Fantastical – Suhzi of the Storm

As we consider the source material of brave cosmic adventures facing off against world-eating threats of Galactic proportions, the opposition of one group of four adventures has opposed and driven off the Hungerer time and time again…

So, to fill the ranks of the Four Fantasical, we poured over the extended body of the 3pp offerings to come up with the mistress of defenses unseen, Suhzi of the Storm.

The Concept: Suhzi of the Storm is spiritual center of the Four Fantastical, providing not only emotional support but defenses as a amazing as her iron will. She projects defensive fields and can render herself and others invisible. She also can see other invisible objects.

The Class: Incanter from Drop Dead Studios’ Spheres of Power seems like the best fit for Suhzi. The Protection Sphere will give us wards, barriers, and aegis effects for our Force Fields, illusion will provide us Invisibility, and Divination will allow us to see invisibility.

Point Buy: Since the Four Fantastical are cosmic heroes we will go with a high fantasy budget of 20 points.

1st Level – Female human incanter 1, Protection Sphere Specialization: (Energy Resistance 5, changed daily.Protective  Ward – 10′ +1 deflection bonus to AC for 4 rounds, 7/day), Spellpool, Spheres: Protection, Illusion, Divination. Talents: Distant Proteciton, Inivisibility, True Sight. Feats: Extra Magical Talent (x2).

Stats: STR 9, Dex 14, CON 10, INT 13, WIS 18 (16 with Racial), CHA 13

At this level Suhzi can create barriers around herself and others, turn invisible at will, sometimes see through invisibility. She also has a area of effect deflection field to protect her allies and innocents. She also has an energy resistance that can rotate daily and helps give her “personal force field” greater over all resistance.

5th Level – Female human incanter 5, Protection Sphere Specialization: (Energy Resistance 5, changed daily.Protective  Ward – 10′ +2 deflection bonus to AC for 4 rounds, 7/day), Spellpool, Spheres: Protection, Illusion, Divination, Telekinesis. Talents: Distant Protection, Invisibility, True Sight, Greater Barrier, Luck, Slippery, Resistance, Flight, Telekinetic Push. Feats: Extra Magical Talent (x4).

Stats: STR 9, Dex 14, CON 10, INT 13, WIS 19 (16 with Leveling and Racial), CHA 13

Suhzi really blooms at this level, her barriers are much harder to destroy (59 HP and a Break DC of 27). Her personal force fields (aegis) can increase saving throws,  allow rerolls, become slick to escape grapples. She also has gained the ability to levitate herself and allies on force platforms or the launch allies with field fields.

10th Level – Female human incanter 10, Protection Sphere Specialization: (Energy Resistance 5, changed daily.Protective  Ward – 10′ +3 deflection bonus to AC for 4 rounds, 7/day, Energy Absorption 30 points/day), Spellpool, Spheres: Protection, Illusion, Divination, Telekinesis, Destruction. Talents: Distant Protection, Invisibility, True Sight, Greater Barrier, Luck, Slippery, Resistance, Flight, Telekinetic Push, Armored, Energy Resistance, Obstruction, Peacebound, Rebuff, Adaptation, Powerful Telekinesis, Divided Mind. Feats: Counterspell, Extra Magical Talent (x6).

Stats: STR 9, Dex 14, CON 10, INT 13, WIS 20 (16 with Leveling and Racial), CHA 13

Suhzi of the Storm moves from potent specialist to a broader role at this point. We gain Destruction force blasts which can also be used as immediate action protection rebuffs. She can levitate or throw multiple creatures at once. Her force fields can suspend violence in an area (peacebound), grant DR (obstruction) and reactively block environmental harm (adaptation). Lastly, she has grown skilled enough to outright counter other creatures magical attacks with her fields.

15th Level – Female human incanter 15, Protection Sphere Specialization: (Energy Resistance 5, changed daily.Protective  Ward – 10′ +4 deflection bonus to AC for 4 rounds, 7/day, Energy Absorption 45 points/day), Spellpool, Spheres: Protection, Illusion, Divination, Telekinesis, Destruction. Talents: Distant Protection, Invisibility, True Sight, Greater Barrier, Luck, Slippery, Resistance, Flight, Telekinetic Push, Armored, Energy Resistance, Obstruction, Peacebound, Rebuff, Adaptation, Powerful Telekinesis, Divided Mind, Unplottable, Anti-Magic Aura, Ranged Illusion, Silence, Manipulate Aura, Crafted Blast, Energy Sphere. Feats: Arcane Empowerment, Extend Spell, Quicken Spell Counterspell, Extra Magical Talent (x6).

Stats: STR 9, Dex 14, CON 10, INT 13, WIS 21 (16 with Leveling and Racial), CHA 13

Suhzi continues to diversify her powers, granting invisibility at further range, gaining quickened blasts and force fields, and barriers that negate magical attacks that affect them altogether. Her uses of invisibility and forcefields have combined to allow her to hide allies from nearly all senses and prevent sound as well as vision from impacting them. Her force blasts can now inflict all physical damage types and she can making moving  spheres to vex opponents  and sweep the battlefields 

To 20th level and Mythic: Suhzi is a versatile and powerful defender character, her powers will continue to develop along those lines. The biggest difficulty would be keeping her in Spheres themes as that it would be easy to add healing or other effects not true to the inspiration (but very effective all the same). If your game is going mythic the Will-of-All mythic path is probably a good match for her defensive nature.
