New Year’s is right around the corner and that means New Games. As you set up your new party of awesome, you might be looking to take on the iconic role of the rogue. Sometimes, you want something new. If the rogue role is something you enjoy or going to be taking on for the next game, there are some great third party options out there for filling the place of this shadowy damage dealer. With so much out there in the ocean of third party awesome we figured we could point out a few for you. Well, all this rogue-love had to be adding up to something right? We leave off Rogue-ing in the New Year with our own Paramour!
Midnight Striker – The Paramour
Paramour is a passion driven striker with customizable expressions and bonus feats to focus on tandem play with another player (or group)! Here is the stack up against the benchmark rogue:
For Whom the Bell Tolls – (Conditional Damage Boost): Paramour’s conditional trigger is the activation of the “ardent” condition which requires their loved one(s) to be in harms way triggering their tides of passion die pool. The heartfire and heart’s scorn abilities allow the paramour to apply the results of the die pool to attacks as bonus damage against their enemies.
Midnight Moves – (Skill Use): Ask mom. Paramour gets a handy amount of skill points but aside from Use Magic Device, doesn’t really cash in on much of the rogue wheelhouse UNLESS your heartbound partner is also skilled in the same arena. Modeling the classic rogue without redundancy could be difficult here but may be possible. However Paramour doesn’t excel in this arena without help or a dedication of an expression or two.
Slippery Shadows – (Damage Mitigation): Get behind me, I’ll tank it. With a base feature that adds a temporary hit-point at regular intervals, saving throw boosts, AC buffs for allies and the like Paramour has amazing defensive and mitigation potential. Psionic and magic expressions could easily heighten the effect well above rogue-standard.
New Year’s Kiss – (Customize-able Advancement): Girl (or Boy) in every port! Expressions and bonus teamwork or heartbound feats allow for intensely varied paramour experiences and even could allow multiples in the same group with little to no role repetition. Remember that you probably need a friend or NPC to link your paramour to so before you get too attached, check with the GM or other players to make sure you love the love.
